A Space to Connect
Life at Cascade happens around tables, in parks, and all across Portland. Our events are where connection turns into community — and everyone has a place.
Cascade Students
Middle school and High school students are invited to hang out at Cascade Church—a place to relax, play games, ask big questions, and be yourself. Whether you’re curious about faith, love good conversations, or just want a welcoming space to laugh and connect with friends, you belong here.
No pressure, no expectations—just community, kindness, and room to grow.
Location: Cascade Church PDX - 8835 SE Woodstock Blvd, Portland, OR 97266

Parenting After Deconstruction Pt 3
Deconstructing your faith beliefs can be isolating and lonely. Often, this is an individualized process that occurs differently from your partner, family, or friends. Trying to figure out how to parent during this shift can feel nearly impossible. With your newfound theology, how can you talk to your kids about the story of Adam and Eve while navigating the sexist undertones of Genesis 2? How do you take current events and put them into age-appropriate context for your child? How can you reconcile with your own trauma or spiritual abuse while finding positive ways to incorporate spiritual practices with your child?
In this class we will:
-Examine Kathy Escobar's model of deconstruction and locate where you are in your own journey
-Talk about theories around brain development and age-appropriate conversations for kids
-Develop a discussion-based cohort to support you in this transition and direct you to other resources that are available as a reminder you're not alone on this journey
The Winter Cohort launches Tuesday January 13th @ 7pm on Zoom. If you can’t join for the live conversations, no problem! All classes will be recorded outside of small group conversation and sent to you.
Class dates:
January 13
January 20th
January 27
Feb 3rd
Cost: $99 or what you can afford based on a sliding pay-scale (contact me for more information).

Cascade Christmas Pageant
One of the best things at Cascade is that our kids tell us the Christmas story on Christmas Eve. We have been learning the songs at Cascade Kids downstairs throughout this last month and practice will continue this week after church.
We invite each and every one of you to join us Wednesday December 24th at 5:30pm to watch the pageant, sing Silent Night and light some candles together!
Cascade Christmas Party
On November 30th Cascade pulls out the tinsel and yuletide cheer to kick off the Christmas season! After a week of preparing meals for others, we'll provide the food and beverages and entertainment following service.
The highlight is the after meal gingerbread house building competition! Bring your festive self and come celebrate with us Sunday November 30th!
Black Santa at Cascade!
Black Santa is returning to Cascade Sunday, November 30th! This amazing tradition is a great opportunity to see our friend Leroy Barber return and give our children a new lens to experience Santa Claus.
Please sign-up HERE for your family's time slot!
Pub Theology
Coming on Wednesday November 19th from 6:30 - 8:00pm we will be hosting our next Pub Theology night at Humdinger Pizza.
The goal of Pub Theology is to create a space for engaging conversations of God and living with curiosity while getting to know folks in the Cascade community. We don't have an expectation that we will all agree, but we do create this space so we discuss and seek to grow.
For this month we'll be discussing Christianity & Socialism!
Here's an article to read for an overview of this topic.
Cascade Community Spotlight
Cascade community member Bob Macauley has written an amazing book about his experience as a palliative care pediatrician.
On Tuesday November 18th from 7:00-8:00pm Bob will be sharing about his book Because I Knew You: How Some Remarkable Sick Kids Healed a Doctor's Soul at the Lake Theater & Cafe in Lake Oswego and we'd love to have any interested Cascade folk come out to support!
